A quick guide on how to conduct effective one-on-one meetings with your manager as well as your team to build trust, alignment, empowerment and set your career up for success.
I love your visuals, Elena! And I enjoy the content and insights you provide - 1:1s are so important to maintain, as long as you actually use them for growth and not just an excuse to align on minor project details!
Thank you, Francisca! I think what you mention is what really makes the difference. If there are already other meetings to understand the details of the project, why use the 1:1's for this?
Managers should value more individual’s growth than anything else.
At the beginning of my career, I used to talk 80% of time about improvements in process, team and deliverables. I thought if my manager wanted an updated about a project that should be its own meeting or a chat message.
I was wrong. I adjusted for more balanced use of time, as your examples and communication has been better 👍
Thanks, Colette! Building rapport is essential. Could be hard at the beginning but the sooner the better. I think that first impression matters even in a remote world.

Good to hear from your experience, Antonio!
The personal check-in part is critical for building rapport. Building rapport at the beginning leads to a more productive meeting.
